First and foremost, vibration plates are not only a wonderful way to easily stimulate many muscles in your body. At the same time, they help you with your weight loss program and bring positive effects to light: improved blood circulation and balance.
For these reasons, but many more, the so-called “vibrating plates” are often used to treat or prevent some diseases.
When should you stop using vibratory plates?
Vibration plates are not harmful to health. They convince with numerous positive effects that can have an impact on human health. Nevertheless, in many cases vibration training is not advisable.
For certain illnesses or limitations, it is a precaution not to do fitness training on a vibration plate.
The following are some examples where you as a user should refrain from training on the vibration plate if your doctor has not been consulted in advance.
For whom are vibration plates unsuitable?
- Acute inflammations/infections
- Heart rhythm disturbances
- kidney stones in the urinary tract (urolithiasis)
- acute hernias (peritoneal prolapse through a muscle gap directly in the diaphragm or abdominal wall)
- acute joint diseases such as acute rheumatoid arthritis or arthrosis
- Joint implants (hip prosthesis, knee prosthesis, cemented prostheses)
- Gallstones in the bile ducts or in the gall bladder (cholelithiasis)
- severe diabetes (including microangiopathy)
- diagnosed tumours, bone cancer and metastases
- pacemaker / spiral / brain pacemaker
- untreated hypertension (high blood pressure)
- Heart valve diseases
- serious migraine incidents
- cardiovascular diseases
- recent infections
- Implants (breast, stents, teeth)
- fresh fractures (especially in trained body regions)
- slipped discs like spondylitis or discopathy
- non-acute back pain like ankylosing spondylitis
- fresh wounds / surgical wounds (especially in the area of trained body regions)
Why is it not allowed to train on a vibration plate with certain conditions?
In technical jargon it is called “contraindication”. Translated it means that under certain conditions (like the example illnesses) you should not use a vibration plate. Because of the vibrating and shaking effect, your body cannot “bear” the effects of your illness, and the illness in question is made worse.
This is especially true if the vibration plates have a frequency range of over 15 Hz. You have to know that the higher the vibration frequencies are, the more likely are the negative effects or side effects of specific diseases.
So you must absolutely refrain from vibration training if you have open wounds or acute bone fractures. The same applies of course to wounds from a recently completed operation.
The vibration can make the fracture even worse, the wounds can reopen or tear further, or the existing sutures can split without further ado. In these cases your vibration training must be cancelled.
In case you suffer from an acute joint disease such as acute rheumatoid arthritis or arthrosis, you will have to do without a vibration plate for your training.
The danger is too great that your muscles will develop too much heat and the inflammation will worsen. The consequence: the symptoms increase from time to time.
Those of you who have epilepsy, a pacemaker, heart valve diseases, a brain pacemaker, gallstones or kidney stones should also not use a vibration plate. Especially in these cases vibration training is life-threatening.
In particular with epilepsy, you must remember that training on a fitness machine can lead to epileptic seizures or fainting.
Especially if you are near a piece of equipment, for example if you fall, you must expect secondary consequential damage.
If you are pregnant, the vibration plates must not be part of the training plan. Due to the vibrations and the strong vibrations it can happen that the unborn fetus is attacked and a miscarriage can occur.
Damage to the foetus is conceivable, which would ultimately result in a disability. As soon as you are pregnant, stop training on vibration plates.
When not to use vibration plate: When in doubt, consult your family doctor.
Assuming that you are not sure that you are suitable for vibration training, it is recommended that you consult your doctor before getting on the vibration plates. In any case, your doctor knows your complete medical history and is the ideal contact person for your questions.
Is it possible that untrained people can also use the vibration plates?
Especially untrained people are recommended to try conventional strength exercises to get started. This approach gives your muscles the necessary stability for vibration training.
Because of the typical effect of vibration plates, your body must be able to withstand the vibrations without any health risks.
There are countless indications where the vibration plates are a supporting aid and can be used for therapy. Worth mentioning are of course the indications in the internal, orthopaedic, urological, neurological and gynaecological medical field.
It is therefore clearly feasible that with the help of smaller vibration plates or “vibratory plates” with a column, a desirable supplement can be advanced and also cause an alleviation of symptoms. In addition, a promotion of positive disease progressions can be easily felt.
The contraindications for which the vibration plates should not be used must be taken into account and are excluded from training.
Especially if complications occur during vibration training which either occur more frequently or last longer. In this case you have to reduce the training and decrease the intensity of the training.
If you do not tolerate the shaking effect and the vibrations during your vibration training, you must stop immediately and do not force yourself to train!
